ReStory® Intensive Counseling Weekends

Based on a growing demand for a condensed and focused time of counseling, we offer ReStory® Intensive Counseling Weekends. Many people want to work on their lives, hearts, and stories but can’t meet weekly with a counselor for traditional therapy.

Additionally, many people hear about us, but do not live in close enough proximity to our offices to make regular visits possible. As a result, we have created a 3-day, 15-hour counseling intensive for individuals and couples who long to love their story and live restored.

A few times a year, we offer 5-day group intensives for men, women, and couples. These are limited to 6 participants/couples in which we bring our unique ReStory® approach to areas of trauma and harm.

ReStory® Intensive Counseling Weekends Include:

  • 3-days and 15-hours of privatized, in-person counseling work with a ReStory Intensive therapist.

  • Specialized pre-work assignments developed specifically for you and your story. After an initial intake conversation, you will receive 1-2 writing assignments to be completed 2-4 weeks prior to your scheduled intensive time. This helps to begin the process of reflecting on your story, uncovering patterns in your thinking and styles of relating, and provides us with directions to head when you arrive.

  • 1-2 follow-up 50-minute secure online sessions, usually 2-3 weeks after the intensive. These are designed to check in with clients after the intensive to insure their well-being and continued growth in the areas uncovered and discussed.

  • Our intensives do not include room and board. Each client will need to make their own arrangements.

ReStory® Counseling Intensive Topics

You. You are the topic of the intensive. The directions we go and the categories and work we do completely depend on you.  While there is no singular topic for ReStory Intensives, we have found there are some good guidelines:

  • Many approach counseling as if they are looking for short-term relief. They want a quick-fix and think that an intensive is the fastest way to get it done. While much ground is covered in an intensive environment, the focus of our work is on the heart, not the symptoms. We take a deep dive into the driving narratives of your life and lock onto those places in your story where you have been broken, marred, and wounded. Ultimately, symptoms do change. But just as Jesus is far more concerned about your heart than your relief, so are we.

Clients must be willing to step into their narratives with both strength and kindness. This means that they must be willing and want to face those parts of their lives and struggles that cause pain, knowing that they will be well cared for in the process.

  • Individual Intensives have traditionally focused on personal topics, including anxiety, sexual addiction, father wounds, trauma, sexual abuse, and relationships.

Intensives are not a good place for treatment of concerns requiring on-going support, such as depression, bipolar, borderline, schizophrenia, etc. Traditional counseling best suits these needs.

  • There is no magic wand. Although intensives will quickly uncover and begin the healing process in areas of your life that you have long suffered, healing is always a process that takes time. Much ground will be covered in the course of these 3-days and 15-hours. However, clients are urged to realize that ReStory® Intensives are designed to be a significant springboard towards healing, and also, that the work of restoration must continue long after the completion of the experience.

At the conclusion of each intensive, you will walk away with a concrete plan for further healing.

Our Location

Fort Collins, Colorado

  • ReStory® Counseling Intensives are currently being held in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado. An hour north of Denver, nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, Fort Collins is home to Colorado State University and is numbered among the top 10 desirable places to live in the United States.

We also recommend staying at least 24 hours after the intensive is complete, to have sufficient time to process all that has happened, and get some time in nature to become acquainted with the newly discovered freedom in your soul.

What People Are Saying

“Tracy Johnson is truly a gift to individuals and couples. She is right there with you - engaged in the conversation, keeping you present in the moment, and listening intently to bring clarity to you and your story. ”

“Chris Bruno has a gift -- of compassion, of perception, of focus, of investing in others' stories for healing and growth. What this man can accomplish in a few short, focused days is astounding.

  • Chris Bruno has a gift -- of compassion, of perception, of focus, of investing in others' stories for healing and growth. What this man can accomplish in a few short, focused days is astounding. It's been my experience that God uses him powerfully in creating space for transformation to happen. This isn't a formula. It's an ability to tailor the work to the person at hand, to know what approach might yield results, to hone in on something or to allow room for waiting.

I live in a big city with many resources, and I've had years of weekly counseling with a good person at home. Yet the time with Chris helped me leap-frog in my understanding of and ability to address some places in which I'd been stuck. Making the decision to do an intensive with Chris, spending the time and money (a bargain for the level of commitment and focus that he offers), honoring the process with time away from normal life... these have yielded great things in my life and in the lives of others I've referred.

I cannot more highly recommend Chris' intensives and work in general.

“I had done some counseling here and there but nothing seemed to really address the deep wounds inside. I was a little hesitant to share details of my story on the intensive questionnaire…

  • The following week I had a phone call with Chris, and in a matter of minutes I experienced the kindness of a man that I had never experienced before. As I hung up the phone with tears filling my eyes, I knew this was the intensive God had planned for me.

On the morning of the intensive I experienced a lot of emotions. In fact I started crying as I walked into the lobby. Chris was very kind as we began to explore the work God had planned for us to do. During the 3 days I dealt with a variety of emotions as we peeled back the layers of my story. By the final day of the intensive I was truly encouraged by all the work we had completed, and I had so much hope for the new insight and perspective I would take  back home with me.”
